Simple Woman's Daybook
FOR TODAY (February 02, 2009)...
Outside my window... it is dark, sad to say - I am frightfully late getting around to this!
I am thinking...of how blessed I am in life. God is so gracious and he blesses us each day - abundantly!
I am thankful for... Patient friends! Whom I hope are reading this and realizing I AM still alive and kicking!
From the kitchen... chocolate cream cakes for Honey's lunch, Chef Salad
I am wearing... *blushes* my pink house robe
I am creating...a Valentine for my Sweetie
I am going... to go shopping at the Mennonite Stores this weekend!!!
I am reading...The Bible, Sherlock Holmes Pastiches - I need some new reading material!
I am hoping... that we will get our tax refund by this weekend - at least state!
I am hearing... the blower on the humidifier running.
Around the house... vacuuming to be done, not a lot else.
One of my favorite things... is granola! I am going to try a new recipe tonight!
A few plans for the rest of the week: Working early tomorrow and possibly Wednesday. Not a lot else, possibly a library run tomorrow after work. Then on Saturday, shopping and we are having the pastor and his wife over for a buffalo roast dinner.
No picture, as I have sent my old 'puter back in and I am using Honey's for this!
I do want to share a good quick recipe with you tho!
Spicy Crackers
1 package oyster crackers
2 sleeves Ritz crackers
1-1/4 cups oil
1 package Fiesta Ranch Hidden Valley Dip Mix
1 Tablespoon (or more!) of crushed red peppers
Place dip mix, peppers and oil in a large ziplock bag. Pour in crackers and squish around gently until all good and seasoned. Pour onto 1 or 2 large rimmed cookie sheets and bake at 225 or so for about 20 minutes.
These are great with creamy soups or with salads.

Hi Raquel, welcome back! I was beginning to think you had hung up your apron. :-)
I can't believe you've done your taxes already. (Yikes!)
Will you be roasting a whole buffalo?
I have had crackers similar to these before, they are really good, but very moreish.
Oh, those crackers sound yummy...
Wow, you don't waste any time filing those taxes, we usually get our in sometime in March.
I like granola too, you make you own, cool beans!
Glad to have you back.
Mel
Glad to see you around these parts again! Buffalo, sounds interesting. Have a great day!
You must be a very peaceful person to sit and focus on the simple things that surround you daily. So much of what you "hear" I merely brush off in the daily rush and grind of life.
So glad to see you posting again, Raquel! The crackers sound really yummy! I've got to try them!
I love spicy crackers!
Hmmm... wonder what the Valentine you are creating is going to be?
I love the sound of these crackers, I'll have to make them soon!
